SHOWGROUND CENTRAL MURAL Images
A tremendous amount of time, effort and planning went into this project over the space of many years. It was very ambitious and there were a lot of doubters, despite all of the obstacles the mural was successfully completed on time, under budget and still stands today 5 years later intact.
HYPED Edutainment is a progressive project management organisation offering tailored programs and solutions targeting youth and community causes, education and entertainment within the arts. This project is an excellent example of what can be achieved between private enterprise, local Government and community.

The completed mural project also acts as a colorful welcome to interstate & local rail passengers to the city of Adelaide & the Wayville precinct, especially around ‘Show’ time with over half a million visitors each year, many utilising the new Showground Central Rail Station. The overall expected yearly audience is estimated at approximately one and a half million people.
This mural has gained the enviable status of being known as a landmark tourist attraction and an arts icon for Adelaide, South Australia and the precinct of Unley.

This 3-stage project is part of a bigger push to revitalize the transit corridor from Keswick to Goodwood Stations, incorporating landscaping, new temporary train station and pedestrian/cycle way, and custom positioned lighting servicing the community and patrons of the Royal Adelaide Show. Additional security measures were also put in place to protect the station and mural from any potential vandalism.
The cycle way was completely upgraded and bitumenised in 2006.
SHOWGROUND CENTRAL MURAL
The Showground Central Mural is a truly unique international standard, public arts project developed by HYPED Edutainment. This large-scale painting depicts the history and activities of the Royal Adelaide Show and the local community, offering a larger than life visual for the area. It was completed in 2005
Located along the perimeter of Adelaide’s Royal Showground at Wayville, this mural has an intended surface area of over 2 square hectares and is intended to compete for a World Record holding with the Guiness Book of World Records. The mural will be designed and painted by well-known aerosol artist from HYPED Edutainment, with invited assistance from various secondary school students from across Adelaide, working under his tuition. There will also be a feature 'Streetart Showcase' for a range of talented Adelaide artists to shoe off their styles.
HYPED Edutainment and this project has the full support of the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of SA (RA&HS) and TransAdelaide (TA), with both organisations making financial contributions to get this project off the ground. The Cites of Unley & Onkaparinga have taken a keen interest in this project and have made funding available as part of a wider program targeting crime prevention and graffiti vandalism, all of whom take on the status of key stakeholders.
