SHOWGROUND CENTRAL MURAL
The Showground Central Mural is a truly unique international standard, public arts project developed by HYPED Edutainment. This large-scale painting depicts the history and activities of the Royal Adelaide Show and the local community, offering a larger than life visual for the area. It was completed in 2005
Located along the perimeter of Adelaide’s Royal Showground at Wayville, this mural has an intended surface area of over 2 square hectares and is intended to compete for a World Record holding with the Guiness Book of World Records. The mural will be designed and painted by well-known aerosol artist from HYPED Edutainment, with invited assistance from various secondary school students from across Adelaide, working under his tuition. There will also be a feature 'Streetart Showcase' for a range of talented Adelaide artists to shoe off their styles.
HYPED Edutainment and this project has the full support of the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of SA (RA&HS) and TransAdelaide (TA), with both organisations making financial contributions to get this project off the ground. The Cites of Unley & Onkaparinga have taken a keen interest in this project and have made funding available as part of a wider program targeting crime prevention and graffiti vandalism, all of whom take on the status of key stakeholders.
